Once my five children were grown, I began my journey into the world of purebred dogs. I have had the privilege of owning and loving dogs that excelled in the show ring and were stellar representatives of their breed. I worked hard but the rewards were great and I eventually became a conformation judge for United Kennel Club. My goal is to breed only health tested Silken Windhounds that are exemplary examples of their breed. It is my hope that other families will know.
The first organized conformation show was held in 2000 and it has grown to include racing and coursing events in addition to health clinics and breed-related seminars. SilkenFest 2015 was held March 6-9, 2015 in Dade City, FL.
Siken Windhounds are now recognized by the United Kennel Club. The Silken Windhound fills a niche in the sighthound breeds with a smaller, long-haired hound. The Silken Windhound may bring to mind a small Borzoi, but Silken Windhounds are uniquely their own breed. Silken Windhounds are bred to an Official Standard that outlines the ideal dog.
